The fungi folk are making an appearance in the forest along the walking trail during these wet late August days.
Calvatia gigantea – During my discovery of fungi last fall (November 2020), I came upon this giant puffball. I understand it may be an edible mushroom. I took it home and dissected it. Didn’t feel adventurous enough to actually cook or eat it. However, it is a beautiful strange looking organism. About 14 inches end-to-end.
