November 17th 2024 – The garden plot is still very productive. No frost so far this autumn, but that could change this week. I had not been to my garden plot for a few weeks. During that time, we have had regular rain, sunny cool days and nights.
The Rainbow Swiss chard, Italian Verde de Taglio chard, flat leaf Parsley, Japanese Tokinashi turnip, and Japanese Minowase Daikon radish are all just lovely. The turnips and radishes have grown fast with plenty of water. They are both sweet, crunchy, and delicious.
The turnip and radish seeds were planted on September 16th. I am beginning to harvest November 17th. So about 60 days of growing. There will be much more to harvest. I couldn’t be happier about that.
The chard was planted March 28th and has produced abundance leaves since May 12th. That’s about 6 months of produce from the chard plants, and they are not finished.
