“Throw me something, mister”, that’s what we yell at the Mardi Gras parade to get them to throw a “doubloon” souvenir to the crowd. In the past the prize doubloon was actually a Spanish gold coin. Nowadays, they throw “bead necklaces”, as you can see one of mine in the photo. They also throw other assorted unmentionable items. It is a celebration of mischief and the profane. So anything goes.
This is my amateur attempt number 4 to bake cupcakes. My most successful cupcake bake so far. The cakes were baked from Food Network recipe “Ultimate white cupcakes”. The recipe uses only egg whites so the batter doesn’t have the yellow color of the yokes. The frosting is buttercream.
The cupcakes were decorated in the colors of Mardi Gras as celebrated in Louisiana. Green for faith, gold for power, Purple for justice.
Here are photos of my other recent cupcake trials. Honesty, they all tasted fine, however the Mardi Gras cakes were outstanding in my estimation.
