Melon Harvest

The melons ripened quickly the first week of August. The vine wilted a little each day and recovered at night. Then the melons just detached from the vine.. Interesting! Of course there are too many ripe at once. I think the hills will be planted in internals next year to prevent this from happening again.

All the melons (except one) in these photos are the green fleshed Ananas d’Amerique a Chair Vert variety. Firm, sweet, and highly perfumed just as the seed catalog described it.
